Our 2nd Annual MDF Gala was a tremendous success, thanks to the many heroes in our special myotonic dystrophy (DM) community. More than 250 guests celebrated MDF’s progress since its first gala in 2013, raising $500,000 to drive the next phase of our Care and a Cure mission for families living with myotonic dystrophy.
Foundation advocates Erica and Jeremy Kelly formed a stellar host committee to recruit friends and family for an evening of celebration and inspiration. This black-tie fundraising event was held on October 8th at a unique venue in Northern California among a stunning classic car collection in partnership with Shifting Gears. Guests enjoyed a lively cocktail hour, followed by a meaningful program highlighting MDF’s research, support and education programs that are providing much needed care for families and paving the path to a cure.
We unveiled MDF’s new short film, appropriately titled “DM Heroes,” before auctioning off amazing live auction packages, including vacation homes in Greece and England, a private vineyard dining experience, river rafting in Idaho, Golden State Warriors tickets and so much more.
"The event had a wonderful feel to it….fun and meaningful and heartfelt and moving," said MDF Gala Committee Member Kristin Revill, who attended the gala. "It is such a privilege to be involved in the Foundation…..amazing what you all have achieved in the few years you’ve been in existence. We are so happy to have been a part of the gala. We’re already looking forward to the next one!"
We invite you to view “DM Heroes” and know you will join us in honoring the strength and resolve of the countless heroes who make up the MDF community. From all of us at the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation, thank you!
