Participants Needed for Research Study for Women with DM

Published: April 28, 2024

A new research study is available at the University of Rochester. The study is called “Sexual and menstrual function in Women with Myotonic Dystrophy and Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy”. It is conducted by Dr. Johanna Hamel and Jeanne Dekdebrun.

Myotonic dystrophy type 1 and type 2 affect skeletal and smooth muscle. Skeletal muscle is found, for example, in our arm and leg muscles, and smooth muscle is found, for example, in the gastrointestinal tract or organs of the pelvic floor. This study aims to find out whether women with myotonic dystrophy may have symptoms related to menstrual and sexual function.
