DM2 places a significant burden on people and families, but research and treatment development have not kept pace. This report reviews the DM2 research landscape and identifies opportunities to strengthen natural history data, disease models, diagnosis, collaboration, and therapeutic development. It offers a roadmap for coordinated investment to move the field closer to clinical trials and effective treatments.
