Happy New Year from MDF's Chief Executive Officer!

Published on Wed, 01/22/2025

Dear Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation Community,

Happy New Year! As we begin 2025, I am filled with hope and excitement for all that lies ahead. This year holds tremendous promise for advancements in research and clinical trials around the world, helping to pave the way for new treatments and a brighter future for everyone affected by myotonic dystrophy.

MDF is pleased to share the roll out of new resources and programs designed to better support you and your loved ones, including our eagerly awaited new DM Toolkit, currently under development! This month we are launching our new International French-Speaking Support Group, with plans to translate key DM resources into French later this year. This new support group will provide a welcoming space for French-speakers to connect, share experiences, and support one another.

Building on the success of our regional conferences across the US in 2024, we look forward to the upcoming international 2025 MDF Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana, May 1-4th. This event will bring together over 600 DM professionals and families to participate in over 70 sessions, share knowledge, and strengthen collaborations.

MDF is proud to launch the new Clinical Track of our early career research grant in 2025! This application period for this new investment will open in April!

A special heartfelt thank you goes to all those community members participating in DM studies and clinical trials. Your involvement is crucial to driving research forward and accelerating the development of new treatments. We are deeply grateful for your contributions.

As we look ahead into the New Year, our hearts go out to the families affected by the recent natural disasters in the United States, including hurricanes in the Southeast and the devastating fires in California. Please know that we stand with you during these unimaginably challenging times.

Thank you for being such an important part of the MDF Community. Together, we will continue to make meaningful strides toward a future filled with hope, multiple treatment options, and ultimately, a cure for myotonic dystrophy.

With gratitude,
