Young Investigators are encouraged to apply and contribute to the advancement of myotonic dystrophy research, joining a program committed to fostering the next generation of DM experts!

New in 2026, the Early Career Scholars program will feature two distinct tracks:

  1. The Basic / Translational Science Track focuses on advancing molecular biology and basic science research in DM, aiming to uncover the fundamental mechanisms of the disease, such as the genetic and cellular processes underlying its onset and progression. This track aims to lay the groundwork for new therapeutic strategies and a deeper understanding of DM. Apply for MDF's 2026 Early Career Scholar Grant! >>>

  2. The Clinical Research Track is tailored for physician-scientists and emphasizes clinical and translational research, bridging the gap between laboratory discoveries and patient care. This track supports projects that develop and test new treatments, improve diagnostic tools, and directly address the challenges faced by DM patients, translating scientific advances into tangible improvements in care.
