MDF is excited to formally welcome Kate Beck as our Special Projects Manager! Kate first engaged with the foundation in 2019 after her close friends were diagnosed with DM. After learning more about our mission, she was inspired to help advance care and a cure. She signed on to serve as MDF’s Gala Coordinator via a temporary contract position in 2019 and again in 2020. She was immediately struck by MDF’s strong and collaborative ecosystem, as well as the opportunity for significant impact on all levels.
As MDF’s Special Projects Manager Kate will continue to coordinate the Annual Fundraising Gala and will manage other special satellite projects, including the DM Research Map currently in development, activities associated with International Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day on September 15th, advocacy initiatives, and more.
Kate is a native of Los Angeles and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and Music at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Prior to joining the foundation, Kate lived and worked in Tokyo, Japan, as a JET English teacher and cultural ambassador and then in the music and entertainment industry.
MDF is thrilled to officially welcome Kate to the team!
