Proclamation Toolkit

Ask your local, state, or provincial government to officially recognize International Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day.

Request a Proclamation for International Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day!

Every September 15, the global myotonic dystrophy community comes together to raise awareness, improve understanding of DM, and inspire action toward better care, treatments, and a cure.

You can help by asking your local, state, or provincial government to officially recognize International Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day. A proclamation can bring DM to the attention of elected officials and community members while giving you an opportunity to share why awareness matters to you and your family.

Raise DM Awareness in Your Community

Many proclamations begin with one community advocate making a request. Although the process varies by location, securing a proclamation may be easier than you think.

MDF’s Proclamation Toolkit includes:

  • Steps for finding and contacting the appropriate government office
  • A customizable outreach email
  • Sample proclamation language
  • Tips for sharing your story and celebrating a successful proclamation
