Sharing Stories, Driving Change: Meet the MDF Awareness Ambassadors

Publié : 12 juin 2026

We are excited to introduce the inaugural class of trained MDF Awareness Ambassadors!

This spring, in partnership with Living Proof Advocacy, MDF trained 11 volunteers living with myotonic dystrophy (DM) or caring for someone living with DM as Awareness Ambassadors. These Awareness Ambassadors have been prepared to share their personal experiences to help raise awareness, build understanding, and advocate for meaningful change.

Through a multi-step training program, MDF Awareness Ambassadors developed the skills to share their stories with the DM community, researchers, clinicians, policy makers, and other key audiences.

Personal stories are a powerful tool for advocacy. They help people affected by DM feel less alone, give healthcare professionals and researchers with a deeper understanding of the lived experience of the disease, and help decision makers see the impact of DM beyond the data.

We are proud to celebrate the dedication and accomplishments of this inaugural class and look forward to the awareness and advocacy activities they will continue to lead on behalf of the DM community.
