Thank You Advocates, 11 U.S. Representatives Sign DM Research Letter

Publié : 30 avril 2024

Over the past several weeks, Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation advocates across the country sent over 1,000 emails to their Representatives asking them to sign the letter authored by Reps. Jen Kiggans (R-VA) and Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) urging the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee to include $10 million for peer-reviewed myotonic dystrophy research funding as part of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP). The final letter signed by 11 Representatives was sent to the House Appropriations committee leadership this week.

  • Brian Fitzpatrick (PA)
  • Jennifer Kiggans (VA)
  • James McGovern (MA)
  • Jared Moskowitz (FL)

Next Steps

Now the House Appropriations committee will review all the congressional requests they have received and begin to prepare a first draft of the budget. We anticipate the House Appropriations committee will release their proposal sometime this summer. Senator Amy Klobuchar will lead a similar Senate letter of support for CDMRP funding. Click here to email your Senator to Sign Senator Klobuchar’s $10 Million Myotonic Dystrophy Research Funding Letter by May 6th!
